There is a war going on ladies and gentlemen. A war. DH and myself on one side. Moss on the other. Yes, moss, and it's yearly invasion into our yard. It's not unexpected, we live in the Pacific Northwest after all, but it is nonetheless the bane of our efforts for a perfect lawn.
Well the first salvo has been fired in this year's battle against the moss. Both front and back yard have been doused with a moss killing agent. A few days from now and the bright green moss will turn almost black as it dies. But don't think that's the end of it. No, moss is more sinister than you think. You see if you don't then rake out the dead moss, it will slowly come back to life and begin it's spread again. That's just not right. It's not natural...dead should stay dead.
In related news, we've had a casualty on our side. A moment of silence please for our beloved garden gnome. You will be missed, but not forgotten. Although technically his demise came from being knocked off a shelf by the efforts of DH to get a ladder down to aid in cleaning off the roof, I'm sure that the moss is to blame some how. But I'm happy to say that we've already found a willing recruit to take up the task of yard protection.
