Keep keeping your fingers crossed

Here's the deal. There was this job available in DH's company that he'd be really good at and would net us about 10k more a year. He interviewed today and it's a no go. He didn't get rejected, he rejected the job. Apparently the powers that be decided that the job would be based out of another of their stores about 1.5-2 hours away. Neither of us want him commuting that much, so he withdrew himself from consideration. No harm done.

So why the continued finger crossing? The leading candidate for that job is DH's boss and if he gets it, DH will get his boss's job. No commute, more money, and less responsibility (at least no additional responsibility). Win. Here's hoping that DH's boss lands himself a new job!

edit: *sigh* No such luck. Apparently some of the guys at the old company got wind of the job opening and applied. Since they already do what the new company is looking for they could basically hit the ground running and one of them got the job. :(
